I'm not sure whether Whoopi is delusional, naive or under contract to a Hollywood PR.

Not too long ago she came out in support of Roman Polanski and his liking for the 'not rape-rape' kind of rape. She then backtracked by claiming she had not worded it correctly and that she meant that it was 'statutory' and not the kind with an unwilling participant.
She had clearly not looked into the case before giving her two cents as, according to reports, Polanski had plied the girl with quaaludes and champagne, suggesting she wasn't that willing before the incident, before committing acts upon her person that caused him to flee to Switzerland.
Now Mel Gibson and his recorded-for-posterity racist and violent rants AVAILABLE HERE have prompted Whoopi to state that Gibson is not a racist.
She said: "I don't like what he did here but I know Mel, and I know he's not a racist."
Whoopi doesn't like how he described black men as n****** and also believing that they roam in packs, raping indescriminately. I'm sure everyone would agree with her 'not liking that'. The recent description of an employee as a wetback would indicate that this is not a one-off.
If it's not in your head, you don't say it.
And that's not counting the anti-semetic rant that kicked off the decline of Marty Riggs.
So why did she back him up? They're 'pals' but as far as I can remember they've never starred alongside one another. Might it have something to do with the fact that the William Morris Endeavor agency represented them both up until yesterday when they dropped Mel as a client?
Are they dropping him until it all cools off in order to pick him back up again after their black client has officially announced he is not a racist and he has gone into rehab (Possibly brainwashing him Clockwork Orange style with episodes of Diff'rent Strokes) ?
